Job Summary: This is a professional specialty requiring advanced knowledge in Medical Nutrition Therapy to provide safe and effective nutrition care to patients actively receiving cancer treatment across the cancer continuum including primary prevention, cancer recurrence, and palliative care. This person performs as a member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of optimal nutritional care and education of patients/clients in accordance with established standards of care. Registered Dietitians performing at this level are highly competent and have demonstrated the professional skills and ability to make clinical judgment in an efficient and effective manner with minimal guidance and supervision.

Minimum Requirements: B.S. and/or M.S. in Dietetics. Registration by the American Dietetic Association. Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO). Current credentials are kept on file. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit or area. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
