Job Summary: To provide processing and initial screening of all specimens submitted to the laboratory for cytological examination.

Minimum Requirements: 

• Two years of college including twelve semester hours or eighteen quarter hours of biology, and successful completion of one year of study in an approved program of Cytotechnology. 
• Must be currently registered as a Cytotechnologist. 
• The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care in his/her assigned department. 
• The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/ area's/ department's policies and procedures.
