Job Summary: The Angiography Specialist, under the supervision of the Cath Lab Manager and Associate Manager, coordinates the technical and patient care component of cardiac and peripheral angiograms, interventions, and other invasive procedures. He/she monitors patients during procedures and records hemodynamics; they also assist the physician in performance of all angiographic and interventional procedures. He/she is responsible for all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures. The Angiography Specialist must maintain a positive approach to working in a fast paced environment. Must take emergency call with a 30 minute response time.
Minimum Requirements: Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology, Registered Radiographer by the ARRT; Graduate of an approved school of Cardiovascular Technology, RCIS credentialed Cardiovascular Technologist or Graduate of approved school of Emergency Medical technology with Paramedic certification. Registered by the ARRT, RN, RECS or RCIS and two years’ Cath Lab/EP experience preferred. Paramedic certification with RCIS/RCES within 18 months of employment required. Current AHA BLS certification required, must obtain ACLS certification within 90 days. As a condition of continued employment, staff members must maintain current status at all times and not allow his/her certification/licensure/ registry to expire or he or she will no longer be compliant with the requirement of the job description. Once a staff member’s credentialed status has been negated/lost/revoked they will be terminated from their position in accordance with this job description and Human Resources policy 3.11. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on this unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients’ status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures.
