Cert Occupational Therapy Asst- Acute Therapy Rehab
Job Summary:The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is responsible for carrying out a treatment program as outlined by an Occupational Therapist (OT). The COTA’s role is to collaborate with the OT in establishing a program to maximize function and safety following a disease, injury or loss of limb. He/she also helps the patient return to the community when possible and educates them on living within the boundaries of his/her capabilities. All duties are to be carried out with empathy and compassion towards patients and their families as well as their co-workers.

Minimum Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited school for Occupational Therapy Assistants. Successful completion of the National Certification Board of Occupational Therapy exam.
- Licensed by the State of North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy.
- The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
- The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's departmental policies and procedures.
