Job Summary: The Electrophysiology Specialist, under the supervision of the Cath Lab Manager, Associate Manager, and direction of the Cardiologist, coordinates the technical and patient care component of EP studies, device implantations, and other invasive procedures. He/she is responsible for all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements: Graduate from an approved school of Radiology Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Professional Nursing, or Emergency Medical Technician with Paramedic Certification. Registered by the ARRT, RN, RECS or RCIS and two years’ Cath Lab/EP experience preferred, will accept CCT with a minimum of five years of EP experience or Paramedic certification with RCIS/RCES within 18 months of employment required. Current AHA BLS certification required, must obtain ACLS certification within 90 days. As a condition of continued employment, staff members must maintain current status at all times and not allow his/her certification/licensure/ registry to expire or he or she will no longer be compliant with the requirement of the job description. Once a staff member’s credentialed status has been negated/lost/revoked they will be terminated from their position in accordance with this job description and Human Resources policy 3.11. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on this unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients’ status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures.
