The Rehabilitation Hospital is a 20 bed comprehensive medical rehabilitation unit. Our mission is to deliver compassionate, quality, interdisciplinary rehabilitative care, including 24 hour comprehensive nursing. Rehab Nursing provides patient and family education, comprehensive rehabilitative nursing care, and reinforces skills learned in therapy to help patients return to their maximum level of independence.

Job Summary: The Patient Care Technician I assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patients and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Tech I duties include but are not limited to clerical functions and NA I skills related to rehabilitation care.

Minimum Requirements: High school graduate or equivalency; or, completion of third year in the AA Early College Program of a community college and provide transcript to HR. Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Division of Facilities Services. Passage of Quality Indicator (QI) credentialing exam for unlicensed personnel related to rehabilitation-specific quality indicators. Maintain current AHA BLS certification. Basic understanding of medical terminology. Able to organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care, maintaining workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities. Able to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the nursing unit(s). The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.
